-The alleged (and most-likely fraudulent) "Essene" teachings of Edmond Bordeaux Szekely.

-Full Gospel Christianity.

-Basic Quaker instruction and practice.

-Personal Quaker ministry.

-Winning Conscientious Objector status during the Vietnam War following a live appeal before the San Diego Draft Board.

-Membership in the Wider Quaker Fellowship, Quaker Universalist Fellowship, World Federation of  Unity Churches, the International New Thought Alliance, the Lehigh Valley Friends Meeting and the Santa Fe Friends Meeting. NOTE/2006 UPDATE: Served 2004/2005 term as Clerk of the Santa Fe Friends Meeting--definitely an honor and humbling experience.

-Founding member of a Quaker worship group in Ojai,Calif. and participation in one in the Roaring Fork Valley-Aspen, Colo. region.

-Development and direction of one of the first online interactive spiritual centers, Inner-Light Wider Quaker Fellowship's Positive Church Online in 1995 (built out to 400 pages before it was closed in  2000) and a Wholeness/Wellness site in '96 and others since.

-Newspaper journalism.

-Some radio journalism and production of radio advertising.

-A tiny bit of television news commentary.

-Ad and public relations copywriting for a large, California ad agency.

-Newspaper and magazine editing and publishing.

-Reporting for newspapers in San Diego, Simi Valley, Ojai, Santa Barbara, El Paso, San Luis Obispo, Denver/Aspen, and Albuquerque-Santa Fe-Taos. Beats included: health, environment, urban planning, alternative health, education, government, theatre and the arts, the human potential movement, religion.

-Truck driving for a few months in 1973-'74. (Never really learned to back up a trailer rig around multiple corners at strange truck yards and loading docks, so, in truth, I wasn't much of a truck driver. But I got the license and was pretty proud of it.)

-Country-folk songwriting and performance in the late '60s, early '70s .

-Poetry performance.

-Gardening and landscaping.

-Marriage and divorce. 

-Making and losing friends.

-Falling in love. 

-Suffering heartbreak.

-Being hugged, being held, being loved.

-Intimacy.

-Making love.

-Coming to terms with an adult brother's suicide, if one ever really does.

-Succeeding in business, and failing in business and in-betweening in business and learning from it all.

-Maintaining a wilderness home in New Mexico and its solar electric and solar heating and water conservation systems.

-Living in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Ohio, Missouri, Arkansas and Pennsylvania and traveling by car (or camper or Toyota motorhome) through more than 45 of the 50 states.

--Some early childhood time living among the pines in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve on the outskirts of the Vale community just outside Yellow Springs, Ohio, in the old (now demolished) Glen Homestead.

-Earning doctorates in holistic health, and spirituality (spiritual direction/spiritual psychology).
